ESSM commenced operation in 1975 as a one man show operating from a separated
home studio in Ringwood East teaching classical guitar and accordion. As demand
increased, more teachers were added and by the early 80's we were also teaching
drums, flute and clarinet.

In 1994 the management of ESSM become involved with KC's Rock Shop in Boronia
and moved the school to a residential house that was used as a music school. By
this stage we were teaching all styles of guitar (with a total of five guitar teachers),
bass guitar (from a dedicated bass teacher, not a guitar teacher who dabbles in bass),
clarinet, flute, recorder, alto sax, violin, accordion and drums.
