Teachers
Rhys has been teaching at the Eastern Suburbs School of Music since 2002. He specialises in contemporary guitar styles in particular hard rock and blues guitar and is the ESSM VCE solo and group performance expert. His students participate in ANZCA contemporary guitar exams where his students have never achieved less than honors marks (85% and above). As a performer Rhys has done over a 1000 gigs, touring nationally and playing in some of Australia’s most prestigious venues.
Music has always been a major part of Daniel’s life as a performer and now educator. Daniel graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Education on the bass guitar and now is employed as a classroom music teacher and music consultant. He has also played in many bands using all the different styles he has learnt from rock to country and everything in between. He brings much experience to all his one on one bass guitar lessons. Whether it is slapping, tapping, harmonics or other specific bass techniques, Daniel has the range and resources available to ensure that you get the most out of your lesson.
DAVID HARTNEY
David has been teaching guitar for over 10 years. His students have included primary and secondary school students through to adults of all age groups, all wanting to learn and improve their guitar skills. David likes to work on all round skills and styles with his students which includes contemporary music from the last 60 years, some classical and improvising techniques from blues to modern styles. He has completed a VCE Group Performance Music Diploma, and is currently able to work with and teach VCE students covering both instrumental and theory components. David has also completed a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Literature. David has played in a number of cover bands in and around Melbourne. You may have seen his style, and thought ‘I wish I could do that’.
Rob has been playing music from a young age. He has worked hard to complete his Bachelor of Music Degree at the Queensland University of Technology undertaking a saxophone and electric bass double major. He has also completed his studies in music production and orchestration. For over 10 years Rob has taught guitar, electric bass and saxophone, as well as music theory and ensemble studies at several high schools and music schools in Brisbane. Rob has performed with The QSO, in Mamma Mia, Dirty Dancing and The Todd McKenny Show and with many other bands.
Jason Fados has been playing guitar for over 10 years and has experience playing guitar in many popular original and cover bands. Jason has been teaching guitar for over 3 years. In 2009 he completed an Advance Diploma in Music Performance (Jazz/Contemporary) from which he has earned many high distinctions for performances and recital programs. As a teacher, Jason always works with his students to teach them music that inspires them to learn the guitar.
Luke Shore is an accomplished young drummer who recently completed his Bachelor degree at VCA. His versitility has seen him perform gigs in hard rock, jazz, folk and latin bands as well as being an in demand music theatre drummer. Luke’s great sense of humour adds to his ability to create a supportive and patient learning environment.
